The Marketing Advisory Group, Inc. (MAGI) provides an internal review, which reflects many considerations that would naturally vary or differ with each concept, idea and product. However, there are fundamental considerations that remain relatively constant with almost every project. These considerations are listed in detail below:
-
Eliminate the Obvious: MAGI reserves the right to reject, or refuse acceptance into the program, any item or items that it concludes are obvious, generic, non-specific and/or nonexclusive in nature. These types of submittals include, but are not limited to, devices, concepts and innovations/inventions that are clearly in the public domain, processes performed solely with one’s mind, naturally occurring phenomena, laws of nature, arrangements of printed matter and methods of doing business.
- Eliminate the Frivolous: MAGI also reserves the right to reject or refuse acceptance into the program any item or items that it considers as frivolous. These items include, but are not limited to, devices, concepts and inventions/innovations that are whimsical, capricious, illegal, immoral and/or unsafe. We also reserve the right to reject or refuse acceptance to any item or items that compromise, jeopardize, imperil or risk national security.
- Eliminate Concepts that Defy the Laws of Physics: It is necessary to eliminate inventions/innovations which defy the known laws of physics. Original ideas often proceed from conceptualizations that encroach upon the accepted and known conventions of science. For example, perpetual motion machines and anti-gravity devices clearly defy the modern laws of science known to humankind at this time.
- Eliminate the Technically Unfeasible: It is necessary to determine, as much as possible, within a limited time frame, whether the technology exists to produce the concept, idea or product under review. For example: To our knowledge, no manufacturing technology exists that could produce a real diamond. Therefore, if a prospective client’s concept was a process to produce real diamonds, we would not approve this concept or process (unless it can be demonstrated and visibly proven) because no current technology exists to perform such a task. Generally, easily obtained materials will dictate a lower production cost, whereas more difficult attained materials will dictate a higher production cost. For example: If a prospective client’s product required kryptonite, then we would reject the product because no such material, to our knowledge, is in existence at any price. However, through specific services, MAGI has the ability of enhancing or modifying a raw concept to a refined invention/innovation, allowing the client to enter the potential realm of intellectual property protection.
- Review Advantages, Purpose and Need: Every invention/innovation must exhibit a realistic advantage, purpose or need before it is allowed to enter the program. Commercial viability is the cornerstone of the global marketplace. If an invention/innovation does not clearly display a purpose, advantage or need, the risk factor incurred by a client in entering the program is greatly increased.
- Assigning Specific Services: After the review has been completed by MAGI, we will assign a game plan tailored to your specific product.
