Do you have a new idea and don’t know where to start?
If you have a new concept you are serious about, and need professional assistance,
then contact Marketing Advisory Group for your free face-to-face consultation. Our
unique Inventors Assistance Program provides excellent resources to assist you in
fully protecting and marketing your new idea, product or improvement.
What is the best way to find out if your idea is the same or similar to something
someone else has already registered?
A patent search conducted through the available patents of the United States Patent & Trademark Office will provide an excellent overview to any previously patented concepts
that may be related to your idea. Patent Searches are complex procedures and with over
seven and half million issued patents and millions more pending the novice can certainly
overlook critical prior art (patents). This is why this procedure should be conducted by an
experienced patent researcher. Marketing Advisory Group can provide this service at little
to no cost to the independent inventor.
What if I only have the idea?
Are you curious as to whether or not an idea for a concept can be patented before there is an actual product? Yes it can, as long as a skilled individual would know how to make and use your product from the description. You do not need an actual working prototype to protect and market your idea. Marketing Advisory Group can provide the assistance and experience needed in protecting your intellectual property.
Improving an Existing Invention/Product?
Most patents are for improvements to already existing products. As long as the improvement is found to be unique and non-obvious, it may be subject to patent protection.
Can a patent be filed jointly by two or more persons?
Yes it can.
How long does a patent last?
Utility patent protection lasts approximately 20 years from the filing date of the application. Design patent protection extends 14 years from the issue date. Provisional Patents afford one year of patent pending status and must be followed up with a non-provisional patent before the initial year expires in order to maintain the filing date of the provisional patent.
